Snowbal

I had just taken a winter walk on Mt. Lamborn Mesa,
located on Colorados Western Slope. In the past few
days, I had spotted coyotes kicking up snow and
frolicking with their young. On this particular
occasion, a prairie dog had come out of its hole and
seemed capricious, ready to play. I laughed when I saw
a few symmetrical snowballs a few feet away from him.

Its a fascinating fact that our forest friends, like
coyotes and squirrels have made their way into our
parks and urban areas. When I see nature in our
backyard, my heart is delighted. Our interconnection
brings us all a little closer. This fellow seemed
quite at home on the outskirts of Rocky Mountain
National Park.

 Tiger
(Panthera tigris)
Historically, tigers were widespread across Asia, from Turkey eastward. They have been extirpated form most of their former range, and remaining populations are highly fragmented within southeast Asia. There were 8 subspecies of tiger: the Siberian, Bengal, Indochinese, South China, Sumatran, Bali, Java, and Caspian tigers, but of these the Caspian, Bali and Javan tigers are extinct. And those remaining five are quickly becoming extinct due to the hunger for tiger parts in Asia.
